Description: | Every seven years Veracel's plantations are clearcut. Nothing is left apart from a few blades of grass and some twigs. Forest Stewardship Council-certified plantations can be 'temporarily unstocked'. In other words, even though they are supposed to be 'sustainably managed' they can be completely cleared and replanted. http://chrislang.org/2006/02/09/brazil-public-subsidies-private-gain-eib-and-the-veracel-pulp-mill/ |
