Description: The Punche (Cuides occidentalis) crab. This is one of the primary resources of the local community. The local government has restricted the amount of crabs that fisher folk can catch to seven dozen crabs a day. Crabs are sold for $2 per dozen, then taken to market. Over the last 10 years, local fishermen say there has been a marked decline, not just in these crabs but other species including shrimp and fish. Many blame the flooding waters that bring chemicals and too much fresh water into this delicate eco-system. Depicting the day to day lives of people affected by climate change in El Salvador.
