Description: Dionisio Serrano's hands are full of corn, which is indigenous to the area. Farmers using hybrid corn varieties need to have a regulated supply of water for their crops to flourish: without it, the crops die. Dionisio’s local variety of corn is more resilient and is able to tolerate drought conditions. In 2012, when the local area was hit by an unusually dry season, Dionisio's corn produced a yield whilst the hybrid crops did not. Depicting the day to day lives of people affected by climate change in El Salvador. All images by Jason Taylor for Friends of the Earth International, 2013.
