Description: The Community Conservation Resilience Initiative (CCRI) in South Africa is taking place within two communities in two areas in Mpumalanga province, South Africa, namely the Mariepskop area and the Houtbosloop Valley. The initial stage of the CCRI began with consultations and assessments with the two communities which revealed unique internal threats for each site and many shared external threats. This was followed by a capacity building Workshop, where participants from the two communities shared experiences and solutions to common issues such as soil erosion, bush encroachment, decreasing water quality, and climate change. The communities developed conclusions and recommendations for further community conservation resilience.
